Dosing/Blending
Precise feeding and blending of component materials are essential to the performance of the SGTSE® process. Unlike single-screw extruders, twin-screw extruders are starve-fed, meaning extruder output is directly related to the amount of material delivered to the screws.
Gravimetric process feeders provide precise control over total material flow while allowing multiple components to be accurately blended at specific percentages. This provides consistent dosing of both major and minor components within the material formulation.
Because bulk density and material form can vary significantly, individual vibratory feeders help ensure each component is delivered accurately to the screws. Precise material feeding helps stabilize extruder output and maintain consistent processing performance.

The system relies on high vacuum to dry and de-volatilize the material as it is being extruded. These pumps are designed to operate efficiently in environments where highly saturated vapors or particles will be present while providing years of reliable service life.
Polymer Filtration is another key element in the process,particularly for PCR (post consumer recycle) materials that contain higher levels of contaminants that need to be filtered out of the melt stream. This filtration is achieved utilizing a device called a screen changer.
